Terms of Service

Please read these terms carefully before using PureSplit.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing and using PureSplit, you accept and agree to be bound by the terms and provisions of this agreement. If you do not agree to these terms, you should not use our service.
2. Service Description
PureSplit is a free expense-splitting application that allows users to track shared expenses with friends, family, and groups. The service calculates optimal settlements and helps users manage shared finances.
3. User Accounts
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials. You agree to accept responsibility for all activities that occur under your account. You must provide accurate and complete information when creating an account.
4. Acceptable Use
You may use PureSplit only in compliance with applicable law and these Terms. Prohibited conduct includes, without limitation: attempting unauthorized access; interfering with service availability or security; reverse engineering or abuse of APIs or automation; uploading malicious code; using the service for fraud, harassment, or unlawful activity; and attempting to access data that does not belong to you. We may investigate suspected violations and take enforcement measures including warning, temporary restriction, suspension, deletion of content, account termination, and, where required, notification to competent authorities.
5. User Content
You retain ownership of any content you submit to PureSplit. By submitting content, you grant us a license to use, store, and display that content as necessary to provide the service.
6. Limitation of Liability
PureSplit is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, uninterrupted availability, and error-free operation. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, business, data, or goodwill. Our aggregate liability for all claims arising from or related to the service is limited to the greater of EUR 100 or the amounts paid by you to us in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by applicable law.
7. Service Availability, Changes, and No SLA
We do not provide a service level agreement (SLA), uptime guarantee, or guaranteed response times unless expressly agreed in writing. We may modify, improve, limit, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time, including features, integrations, and access methods. Where reasonably possible, we will provide advance notice for material changes, but emergency security or legal actions may require immediate effect.
8. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If changes are material, we will provide notice through the application and/or by email. Continued use of the service after the effective date of updated Terms constitutes acceptance of those Terms.
9. Suspension and Termination
We may suspend or terminate access to the service, in whole or in part, immediately if we reasonably believe you breached these Terms, created security risk, violated applicable law, or exposed us or other users to harm. We may also suspend service for maintenance, legal obligations, or operational reasons. You may stop using the service at any time and request account deletion through available account tools.
10. Governing Law and Dispute Venue
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany, excluding conflict-of-law rules and the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG). If you are a merchant (Kaufmann), legal entity under public law, or have no general place of jurisdiction in Germany, exclusive place of jurisdiction is Darmstadt, Germany. Mandatory consumer protection laws and mandatory venues remain unaffected where applicable.
