    v2.2.0

    Placeholders, expanded notifications, refreshed emails

The biggest feature gap users have been asking about: add someone to a group without making them sign up. The bell is also alive end-to-end — nine event types instead of two, deep-links to the affected row, and a redesigned notifications page. Every transactional email got a fresh design.

    • FeatureAdd placeholder participants — record expenses for people who don't have an account yet
    • FeatureHand someone a claim link to take over their placeholder when they sign up later
    • FeatureClick any notification to jump to the exact expense or payment, with a brief highlight on arrival
    • FeatureSettlement-reversal email — the original recipient is notified when a settlement crediting them is deleted
    • FeatureGroup spend breakdown — see "this group is mostly food" at a glance in a per-category bento chart
    • ImprovementNotifications now cover every kind of activity — expense edits, deletes, settlement updates, reminders, member adds, placeholder claims
    • ImprovementNotifications page redesigned with filter chips, day-by-day grouping (Today / Yesterday / Earlier this week / Older), and per-event icons
    • ImprovementNotifications update live without a refresh, and your other devices stay in sync when you add an expense on desktop
    • ImprovementEmails share one visual identity now — same design language across resets, settlements, invites, reminders, and admin notices
    • FixReminder button on settlements no longer disappears when a placeholder is involved

    v2.1.0

A step-by-step expense flow and a tidier settings tree

This release reshapes the things you touch every day. Adding an expense is now a guided four-step flow, settings live in the main sidebar instead of their own page, and the group action row makes destructive actions harder to hit by accident.

    • FeatureAdd an expense in four guided steps — amount, category, who pays, review — with a click-to-edit summary before saving
    • FeatureEdit any expense opens directly on the review screen, so you can jump straight to the section you want to change
    • FeaturePublished changelog page with an RSS feed, drafted from a new full-page admin editor
    • ImprovementSettings live in the main sidebar as a tree (Profile, Appearance, Security, Privacy) — no more separate page navigation
    • ImprovementGroup action row puts "Add expense" front and center; Notify and Edit sit in a compact pill, and destructive actions hide behind the overflow menu
    • ImprovementBigger touch targets across settings and group controls on mobile
    • FixThe Settle-up button on the balance card now actually switches to the settlements tab
    • FixExpense amounts are capped at one million per entry — no more accidental fourteen-digit typos

Notifications, receipts, and a calmer dashboard

A big release focused on knowing what's going on and getting paid back faster. • FeatureIn-app and email notifications for new expenses, payments, group invites, and settle-ups.
    • FeatureNotification bell with unread badge and a dedicated notifications page.
    • FeaturePer-group mute toggle so you only hear about the groups that matter.
    • FeatureReceipt attachments on expenses, with secure S3 storage.

    v1.2.0

    Fresh Look

A major visual refresh across the entire app. Every dialog, filter, and detail page has been redesigned for a cleaner, more modern experience with better avatars, smarter layouts, and a polished feel throughout.

    • FeatureRedesigned Add & Edit Expense dialogs. Hero-style amount input, horizontal scrollable category picker, inline avatar pills for "Paid by", and a primary-themed per-person preview bar.
    • FeatureFlat currency selector. The currency dropdown has been replaced with a scrollable row of pill buttons directly inside the amount card. No more popover modal.
    • FeatureNew dashboard settlements page. Debts are now grouped by group in clean cards with color-coded amounts (red for what you owe, green for what you're owed), directional indicators, and summary KPIs.
    • FeatureInvitation area overhaul. Completely redesigned invite link manager with a collapsible toggle bar, color-coded status dots (active, accepted, expired, revoked), hover-to-reveal revoke action, and a modernized create dialog.
    • FeaturePill-style filters on settlements tab. Member filter and settlement mode now use interactive pill buttons with avatars, replacing the old dropdown selects. Matches the expense tab filter design.
    • ImprovementAvatars everywhere — User avatars now appear in the "Paid by" selector, split member toggles, payment history (both sender and receiver), and expense filter pills.
    • ImprovementWider paid-by pills — Member names in the paid-by selector are no longer cut off by borders.
    • ImprovementCompact dialog footers — Add/Edit expense dialogs now use a horizontal footer layout with helper text on the left and the submit button on the right.
    • ImprovementInvite links hidden by default — Invite links are now collapsed on load to reduce visual clutter. Click to expand
    • ImprovementLogin page polish — Replaced the sparkles icon on the sign-in page with a cleaner check-circle design for the feature list.
    • ImprovementLocale-aware date formatting — Invite link expiry dates now use your browser locale instead of a hardcoded format.
    • FixMissing receiver avatar in payment history — The payment history now correctly shows avatars for both the sender and the receiver.
    • FixHorizontal overflow in dialogs — Fixed an issue where the edit payment dialog could scroll horizontally on small screens.
    • FixName truncation in paid-by pills — Increased the max width of member names to prevent them from being clipped.
